The long awaited day in ISKCON is Janmashtami when the devotees get busy with the various preparations to celebrate Janmashtami with pomp and show. Krishna Janmashtami celebrates the appearance day of Lord Krishna. Here at ISKCON Chennai we have a grand celebration that includes Maha Abhishek (the great bathing ceremony), Arati, Stage programs depicting Lord Pastimes. The celebrations conclude with a midnight Arati followed by a great feast. The flower dress of the Lord, made especially for this occasion by the local devotees is a feast for the eyes. Thousands of visitors attend this festival every year to enjoy the celebrations and participate in the ecstatic chanting and dancing.
